Lahore, June 9, 2026 — The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has directed all concerned departments in Punjab to complete preparations ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
PDMA Director General Umar Javed instructed during a high-level review meeting held in Lahore. He emphasized that all arrangements must be finalized in advance to cope with any emergency situations.
According to him, departments must be fully alert and responsive to floods, urban flooding, and other monsoon-related threats. He warned that any negligence would not be tolerated.
Umar Javed also directed all relevant departments to submit reports of the availability of machinery, rescue equipment, manpower, and other essential resources required for emergency operations.
During the meeting, officials gave a detailed briefing on the province’s Monsoon Preparations Plan. The plan includes safety measures, resource allocation strategies, and emergency response protocols aimed at minimizing the impact of severe weather.
Authorities reviewed the availability of rescue equipment and assessed the readiness of response teams in all districts of Punjab. Particularly flood-prone regions were discussed that have historically faced challenges during the monsoon season.
The PDMA Director General stressed the importance of close coordination among all departments. He noted that timely communication and team work efforts are essential for effective disaster management and public safety.
